John J. York is best known for his role as Mac Scorpio on the television show General Hospital, a popular daytime soap opera on ABC. York is a spokesman for the CCFA - the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and has recently recorded Public Service Announcements for the organization.
York was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at age 17. Although his first goal in life was to be a collegiate football player, which his colitis stopped him from doing, he has had a successful acting career, appearing in such other shows as 21 Jump Street and Family Ties.
