Dwight D. Eisenhower - Crohn's Disease

Former President of the United States (the 34th President, to be precise) who served two presidential terms from 1953 to 1961, and a general in the United States Army. Eisenhower rose to the rank of five-star general and became a hero of the people when he was put in charge of Operation Overlord, and the successful D-Day landing at Normandy and eventual invasion of France and Germany.

In the summer of 1956, Dwight Eisenhower was found to be living with crohns disease, which was classified as ileitis at the time, and underwent resective surgery in July. He was re-elected that fall and began his second term as president the following January.
